How it compares

The Neo is not a cheaper MacBook Air — it is a different, more limited class of machine. Its A18 Pro actually beats the M3 in single-core Geekbench (3,535 vs 3,082), so it feels genuinely fast for everyday tasks, but multi-core is less than half a MacBook Air M3's (8,920 vs 12,087). Compared to an Air you lose: the backlit keyboard, MagSafe, Thunderbolt, Force Touch trackpad, P3 color, the ambient light sensor, half the speakers, and any RAM or storage upgrade path. Real-world performance

• Only two ports, and only one of them is useful: one USB-C 3 (10Gb/s) and one USB-C 2 that is essentially charge-only. No Thunderbolt, no MagSafe. It drives exactly ONE external display at 4K60.
• Touch ID is only on the $699 / 512GB model. The $599 model's keyboard has no Touch ID at all.
• The bundled 20W charger is slow — The Verge estimated about 4.5 hours from near-empty to full.
• It throttles quickly under sustained load: the A18 Pro drops from about 8.8W to roughly 5W within minutes of a passive-cooling stress test.
